We care, we learn, we grow

Year 2 Farm Trip

Start: 25th Feb 2020 9:15am

Duration: Full Day

Year 2 Farm Discovery Visit - 25th February 2020
Year two will be visiting two local farms; Red House Farm in Altrincham and Broad Oak Farm in Lymm.

This visit aims to bring storybook animals to life as we get close and hands-on with real farm animals using our 5 senses for a jam-packed sensory day! Country Trust Staff will meet take the children on an interactive tour of the farm, allowing them to see different pigs, cattle and poultry, learning about the personalities of the animals, what they eat and how they’re looked after. British native wildlife and their habitats will also feature as we tour the farmland that Farmer Steve has developed to help wildlife thrive.

We will move on to Red House Farm down the road where we will see what the farmers grow on their land to sell to shops and the public and use to cook tasty fresh meals in the onsite restaurant. We’ll meet the free-range hen flock and find out where eggs come from and tour the crop fields finding out how our breakfast cereal is grown. We’ll see which plants Farmer Lewis is growing and maybe plant our own to take away. The farmers are passionate about looking after wildlife too, so we’ll see the habitats they’ve built for local British wildlife.
