Miss Exley
Welcome to Year 3!
Year 3 Staff:
Teacher - Miss Exley
LSA's - Mrs A and Mr Neill
On this page, you can keep up to date with Year 3!
This half term, PE will be on Fridays so please ensure the children have their full outdoor kit. All long hair must be tied back and no jewellery (including stud earrings) for health and safety reasons
We are now focusing on the four Ancient Civilisations with a focus on Ancient Egypt which I kknow the children will love! Please see our Summer news letter for a full update of the summer term.
We are now in the summer term but please keep an eye on the weather as we seem to be having a lot of rain showers at the moment!
On Wednesday afternoons we will be starting gardening so please send the children in with a change of footwear and an old jumper (if you want) but they don't need a full forest school kit.
Here are some online sites to help with your child's learning:
Guardians: Defenders of Mathematica – KS2 Maths game - BBC Bitesize
Crystal Explorers - KS2 English game - BBC Bitesize
Hit the Button - Quick fire maths practise for 6-11 year olds
Spelling and Grammar, English Games for 7-11 Years - Topmarks
If you prefer to reduce your child's screen time, here are some activites you might enjoy doing together:
Play board games - this really helps develop children's long term memory
Play pick-up sticks - Pick-up sticks is a game where a bunch of long, wooden sticks are dropped on the floor and you have to pick them up one by one. Like Jenga, you have to try and remove a stick without disturbing others. Each stick is a different colour and worth a - different number of points. The person with the most points at the end wins! You can even forage for your own sticks and paint them! This is great for observation, fine and gross motor skills and thinking stratigically
Practise spelling with water pistols - Encouraging children to practise their spelling can sometimes be tricky. Bring the fun by introducing water pistols and spell out words with the water!
A-Z nature hunt - List one thing from nature for every letter of the alphabet. For example, A for archway and B for bugs. Now, go on a walk and use your list as a bingo board to spot as many from A to Z as you can. Another game that is great for long term memory and also gets the children thinking about the outdoors and their local area.
If you have any concerns, questions or would like to speak to any member of staff, please feel free to catch us before school to arrange a suitable meeting time.

It is very important that your child brings a water bottle into school so that they are kept hydrated throughout the school day. Please ensure that the water bottles are clearly labelled and contain only water. It is important that they take them home everyday to be refilled.

Please see the link below for the correct uniform. We really want the children to feel proud to part of the Outwood family and the school unifirm really supports this.
