At Outwood this week….

Children in Need - The children had great fun yesterday as they raised money for Children in Need. Thank you for all your support in raising money for this worthy charity.

Remembrance Day - Also this week we have been thinking about the fallen soldiers during Remembrance Day. Year 6 had a virtual visit from a relative of a Holocaust survivor and really got to understand the impact of World War 2 and EYFS have made a fantastic poppy field display. Some children also laid a poppy wreath at the Wilmslow Memorial on behalf of the school.

Eco - On Friday a group of Eco Councillors walked to Heald Green Village to plant some beautiful flowers that had kindly been donated by Nixon’s Farm. The children had a great time and really developed their gardening skills. We all agreed that the flowers would help brighten up everyone’s day.

Diwali - The children have been learning about Diwali this week. In the EYFS the children have been retelling the story of Rama and Sita and enjoyed tasting some yummy Asian snacks. We would like to wish a happy Diwali to our Sikh and Hindu families and friends.

Public Consultation - Your voice matters In Stockport and over the next 5 years there will be significant changes to the way SEND (special needs and disabilities) is funded and how services will be delivered to schools. There is a public consultation on this called the ‘Designated Schools Grant’ review and this is now live. Please have your say, the more people have a voice the more likely we are the have services that are right for our children. Dojo Time - The children have really enjoyed turning their well earned Dojo points into Dojo time rewards. Each class decides on what they want to work towards at the beginning of the week and  how many Dojo points they will need to earn their reward. Then on a Friday if they have reached their target they get their reward. So far the children have earned class parties, pyjama days, arts and craft sessions and bring your own toy time amongst other rewards.

Next week – To celebrate the beginning of Anti-bullying Week the children are invited to come to school on Monday in odd socks. The theme this year is ‘United Against Bullying’. The children will be learning lots about this in class and the School Council will be sending out a survey to the children to see how they feel about this subject.

Finally we are looking forward to our first virtual parents and teachers meetings next week where we will update parents and carers on how well our children are doing in school. If you have not already booked an appointment please do so through your School Spider account.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Maude
